Melbourne Minute – The Light in Winter

It may be the middle of winter, but Federation Square is revelling in the season with its annual ‘The Light in Winter’ program directed by arts guru, Robyn Archer AO.

Until Sunday, visitors to Federation Square will be dazzled by the free, nightly display of national and international art, music and performance, which reaches its pinnacle on Saturday evening with the Solstice Celebration, marking the longest day of the year.

A major highlight of the program – literally – is the world premiere of interactive light installation, Radiant Lines. Created by UK artist, Asif Khan, renowned for his Coca-Cola Beatbox Pavilion at the London 2012 Summer Olympic Games, the circular sculpture illuminates bright, white light from the heart of the Square.

The Light in Winter is on every night this week from 5pm until late. See a full program of events here.

And that’s The Light in Winter at Federation Square for the Melbourne Minute.
