Every winter in Melbourne breeds a brand new ‘Winter Masterpieces’ exhibition at the National Gallery of Victoria.
This year, the NGV presents Italian Masterpieces from Spain’s Royal Court, Museo del Prado.
The superb selection of paintings and drawings span three hundred years of Italian art, from the early sixteenth to the eighteenth centuries, many of which have never left Spain.
From realism to still life, the collection is owned by the Spanish Royal Family who were avid collectors of Italian art.
Italian Masterpieces is on now until 31 August.
Beginning on Friday, 27 June, the NGV will also recommence its popular ‘Friday Nights’ series, whereby visitors can view the exhibition and enjoy a stellar lineup of musical acts in the Great Hall.
And that’s Italian Masterpieces at the NGV for the Melbourne Minute.
